Custom Sith/Jedi Costumes

Costume Reference Library for Custom Sith/Jedi Costumes

The Custom Sith and Dark Jedi is a more free-form costume area of the club, but there will be guidelines to assure creative quality costumes are what represents The Dark Empire. Put simply a Karate Gi with a Hakima and a lightsaber will not pass muster. If you can sight a similar costume in Star Wars it is likely you can do it, but with that greater freedom comes the risk that it may not be deemed acceptable. To avoid this we have laid out the following “rules”. Firstly, if you are choosing a Traditional Sith/ Dark Jedi style costume, there is a guideline for that. This is here to allow for you to choose a relatively easy passable well defined Sith costume. This is also a suitable Sith Knight or Master costume, but as it adheres to the common Sith tunic/tabards/obi, it may be a good call for a first costume for those looking to get their first Sith costume done with a more structured design.

Weapons Requirements

A: NON TOY LIGHTSABER. This may be as little as a worn hilt (obviously requiring a clip or d-ring attachment), but must not look like a toy. PVC is accepted, but not 100% guaranteed of a pass. Colors for these are not limited to any color save that it ought to have reason. Sith and fallen Jedi will have red, purple, or orange. We also require that custom costumes have non-canon lightsabers.

B: Another Sith weapon may be accepted such as a Sith blade/sword as a primary weapon. For those not Sith or fallen Jedi other SW melee weapons MAY be accepted based on story and construction of said weapons. They will also have to obey the TDE Weapon policies.

C: Supplemental weapons from blasters, to grenades, to Lanvaroks, to [SIMULATED] glass parangs will also be accepted on a case by case basis based on the design and quality of such and the applicability to the character story.

Attire Guidelines

A: All clothing elements purchased from clothing vendors (not costume makers) may be acceptable based on their look, quality, and belief by the Inquisitors that that item could look good in the Star Wars environment. This will be from here forward called SWarzy”.

1: Laces MAY be acceptable based on the overall look of the costume. Please include the images of the item you want in a WIP thread on the forums to save you the time and money if your choice does not fit the requirements.

2: Zipper closures MAY be acceptable based on the overall look of the costume. Please include the images of the item you want in a WIP thread to save you the time and money if your choice does not fit the requirements.

B: Belts, where needed by the clothing/costume elements are in most cases to appear leather and have a neat closure or buckle that fits well with the overall look of the costume. A ring/knot closure has a .5% chance of passing so we advise you not waste our time and yours with it.

C: Pouches, while not required, ought not to be canvas or have exposed zippers. If you have a question about your pouch please contact the Inquisitors or a knowledgeable member of the club to assist you. If you have a non-approved/approvable pouch for a camera or phone, please work to have that behind a robe or cape and hidden from public view.

D: Footwear ought to be leather in most cases and have a hard complete sole. IF you have a fitting foot wrap that is appropriate for your concept we ask you ONLY wear said item in photo shoot environments and ALSO get an accepted for all other use footwear option. We do not want our members to injure themselves.

1: Laces MAY be acceptable based on the overall look of the costume. Please include the images of the footwear you want in a WIP thread to save you the time and money if your choice does not fit the requirements. In general combat boots will tend not to pass without covers.

2: Zipper closures on the front of the boot MAY be acceptable based on the overall look of the costume. Please include the images of the footwear you want in a WIP thread to save you the time and money if your choice does not fit the requirements. All side and rear zippers MAY require paint on the pulls and teeth to help make them a little less noticeable.

E: Armor is encouraged, and is, much like the rest of the custom category, open to your creativity. 1: Sports armor alone will not pass. a: To pass sports armor it may be required to paint, accessorize, and modify it to have it looking “Swarzy”, and not like you just got off the BMX track and grabbed a lightsaber. For this type of build we absolutely recommend you make a WIP thread on the forums and consult with one of the “junior regional inquisitional guides”.

1: COMPONENTS OF Mandalorian armor will not be acceptable, these items are protected by the Mandalorian clans and thus forbidden.

2: Elements of Stormtrooper, Imperial Knight, Republic/Rebellion, and other such non Sith Empire militaries will be considered as “military surplus armor” a: Fallen Jedi may wear some military surplus armor as they would likely be denied access to as much resources as a Sith, thus it is more possible they would make use of whatever armor they found. Sith would not lower themselves and would look more to a complete custom set of gear. Any such use of this armor is subject to cohesiveness with the costume as a whole and overall quality standards.

3: Overall armor examples in Star Wars, from the ancient armor of Naga Sadow to that of the fallen Jedi Revan, to Darth Malgus, and the options available in SWTOR are all allowed, but are subject to review of the quality and fit of the overall costume as well as on a component by component basis. You can find more details about armor in the Armor Guidelines.
